ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hello! My name is Laura and I've had a passion for drawing, painting, making and creating since I was a kiddo. Throughout my childhood I developed what would become a lifelong love for cartoons and animation. 'Art' is a huge part of what makes me who I am.

The furry lights of my life are my trio of "Cheeky Chipolatas," my beautiful mini dachshunds; Miss Phoebe Consuela Woofay, Frank Woofay Junior, and Charlie-Harry Farnes-Barnes 🙂🖤🤎🐾✨ They are my life, my loves, my family, and my inspiration. Together we are ...  "Team Sausage"  😎 🤘 ⭐ 🐾

My heart and soul is poured into every portrait I create, whether it's using traditional paints, brushes and canvas or taking a modern approach with my stylus pen and i-pad. I work from photographs to produce my unique works of art. I favour strong, vibrant colours with contrasting black details, but I also like to mix it up occasionally with moody black and white portraiture.

My portrait gallery is here to show you my creative style and the various approaches and techniques I employ. The "SouthPaw Art & Design Studio" watermark seen on all images in my gallery will NOT appear on the prints themselves. The watermark is there purely to help protect my artwork online.

My love for all things "crafting" related comes from my dear Mum. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of watching my Mum sewing, knitting or baking. When we were little, Mum would sew amazing dressing-up outfits from old clothes, for me and my brother to wear to 'fancy dress parties' and she would knit tiny outfits for my Sindy dolls and teddy bears 😊💖 I learned how to sew and how to knit from her. I sadly lost my Mum when she was only in her 50's, but i still use her sewing machine to make things for my dogs and i have done so for many years now. When i am crafting and creating, it makes me feel especially close her. I know how much she would have loved to see me still being creative and making things, and turning my passion into a little business, and doing something that i truly love 💖
